McDSP's world renowned Analog Channel, CompressorBank, FilterBank and MC2000 Plug-Ins are now available together as the McDSP Classic Pack.

Analog Channel reproduces the sounds of high-end analog tape machines, analog tape, and analog channel amplifiers. Analog Channel gives the user complete control of analog gain staging acting as a ‘digital pre-amp’ (AC1), and analog tape and tape machines (AC2).

CompressorBank is the best from the old and the best from the new, delivering complete dynamic range control with Multiple Peak Detection Circuits, pre-filtering, static/dynamic EQ and compression curve modeling.

FilterBank can emulate any EQ: tube driven or solid-state, vintage or modern with unique and powerful features such as Peak, Slope, Dip controls and variable Q modes.

The MC2000 is a high-end multi-band compressor Plug-In designed to emulate the sounds of vintage and modern compressors in two, three, and four band configurations.

In addition to the four full featured McDSP Plug-Ins, The McDSP Classic Pack also contains a 194 page printed manual and a pre-programmed McDSP Green iLok. The McDSP Classic Pack is ready to plug and play right out of the box.

Analog Channel gives the user complete control of analog gain staging, and analog tape and tape machines.
AC1 - control drive, attack, and release of amplifier characteristics;
AC2 - control every aspect of analog tape 'reproducers', as well as parameters not found in the original devices.

The Analog Channel Emulator AC2 plug-In is an emulator of the most popular analog tape machines (and tape mediums) known to the professional audio recording industry. Playback systems from Studer, Otari, MCI, Ampex, Sony, and Tascam are available in a single 'reproducer' (*). Modern and vintage tape formulations, IEC standards, and tape saturation release (not found on any other 'reproducer') round out the control section of the world's most flexible tape playback/recorder.

CompressorBank gives the user complete control of dynamic compression. Common controls such as Output (make-up gain), Threshold, Compression (Ratio), Attack, and Release are provided. Non-standard Knee and Bite controls allow unique and unprecedented articulation of compression characteristics. Multiple peak detection circuit types provide flexibility only previously achieved by owning different compression units. Side chain support, side chain or in-line pre-filtering, and a static/dynamic EQ section (post compression) round out the signal processing capabilities of an already very capable compressor.

In addition to the standard Threshold and Compression (Ratio) controls, the actual shape and response of the compression curve can be adjusted with the Knee and Bite controls. Knee softens the compression curve, creating a smoother response. Bite gives the compressor the ability to allow signal transients to pass uncompressed, while the overall compression response is unchanged. These controls allow the user to emulate repsonses of their favorite vintage gear.

FilterBank gives you the most power and flexibility to emulate any other EQ or create your own custom EQ. We give the maximum independent controls available to the user to define the EQ response curve. Our design philosophy is "maximum user control".
  • High and Low Shelving EQ: Independent control of frequency, gain, peak, slope, and dip. Only FilterBank gives you independent control of Frequency, Gain, Peak, Slope, and Dip. No other EQ gives you so much control and flexibility of shelving equalization. Some of the low shelf equalization responses of FilterBank are shown on the right in red, while a typical single low shelf response of other equalizers is in blue.

  • Parametric EQ: Frequency control range that covers nearly the entire audible spectrum (20 - 21000 Hz). Four Q modes (see below) with Q values ranging from 0.2 (5 octaves wide) to 20.0 (less than one semitone). Gain is +12/-24 dB. Constant-Q technology closely models analog parametric responses.

  • Low and High Pass Filters: Adjustable slope and resonant peak greater than 24 dB.

  • Band Pass and Band Reject Filters: Frequency control range that covers nearly the entire audible spectrum (20 - 21000 Hz). The Q range is 0.2 - 12.0.

  • The MC2000 is a high-end, multi-band compressor Plug-In designed to emulate any other compressor or create custom compressors, in two, three, and four band configurations. Imagine a three-band stereo compressor with a dbx165 on the low-band, the Neve 33609C on the mid-band, and a Teletronix LA2A on the high-band. These kinds of configurations, nearly impossible previously, are only presets away in the MC2000 plug-In. The addition of simultaneous metering of band inputs/outputs, compression gains, and final output, crossover and compression curve displays, automation of every control, and the ability to recall it instantly with a single preset make the MC2000 the multi-band compressor for the next millennium.

  • Six different multi-band compressor configurations are available – two, three, and four band compressors, in both mono and stereo versions. Many of the MC2000 multi-band configurations can share the same dsp chip.

  • Compression Curve Modeling: In addition to the standard Threshold and Compression (Ratio) controls, the actual shape and response of the compression curve can be adjusted with the Knee and Bite (Bi-directional Intelligent Transient Enhancement) controls. Knee can soften the compression curve creating a smoother response, and/or add pumping/breathing compression effects. These controls allow the user to emulate responses of their favorite vintage gear.

  • Multiple Peak Detection Circuits: Every compressor uses a model to detect and track signal peaks and then apply dynamic compression. Variations of basic models are available in the MC2000: Type 1 - pure peak detection, Type 2 - pure peak detection combined with adaptive release times, and Auto - signal levels are automatically tracked.

  • Double-Precision Arithmetic: at all stages of processing of crossover and compression.

  • Performance: The MC2000 can run on any MIX system dsp type (SRAM, DRAM, no RAM). HD and HD Accel systems are also supported. Many of the MC2000 plug-In configurations can even share the same MIX dsp. Unfortunately, PCI and Nubus systems cannot support the processing requirements of the MC2000.

  • Supports Digidesign’s™ ProControl and Control | 24, and Mackie’s™ HUI external control surfaces, control automation (requires ProTools ™ v4.0 or higher), and ProTools™ MIX, MIX Plus, HD, HD Accel Digi 001, 002 and MBox systems running ProTools LE.
